Resolution Approving and Authorizing the sale of a Defined Easement for Transportation Purposes over a City-Owned right of way between the City of Bridgeport and the State of CT – Department of Transportation to accommodate “Track Improvement Mobility Enhancement 1” - Project #300-214-009

Whereas, the City of Bridgeport is the owner of the right of way adjacent to the railroad tracks along Crescent Avenue; and
Whereas, the State of CT – Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is planning a railroad track improvement project known as “Track Improvement Mobility Enhancement 1”, also known as Project #300-214-009; and
Whereas, an easement over an approximately 3,727 square foot portion of City Owned Property along the railroad tracks on Crescent Avenue between Seaview Avenue and Bunnell Street, as described in attached maps, is needed to properly accommodate the project plan; and
Whereas, CTDOT has obtained a property appraisal to determine the fair value of the required easement; and
Whereas, CTDOT has offered $12,600 to the City of Bridgeport for the required easement; and
Whereas, the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer has requested that the Planning and Zoning Commission provide an 8-24 review and report to the City Council; and
Whereas, the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer has requested that the City Hall Committee provide its review and report to the City Council; and
Whereas, the City of Bridgeport is committed to supporting the State of CT’s efforts to improve public transportation.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bridgeport that the City of Bridgeport will accept the offer of $12,600 and authorize the easement over the Crescent Avenue parcel named in the State of CT – Department of Transpo...
