body

WHEREAS, the Bridgeport Board of Education is seeking to enter into a Power Purchase Agreement with CEFIA Solar Services, Inc. (Connecticut Green Bank) for the operation of solar power at Curiale School; and

WHEREAS, this agreement will allow the Board and the City to secure renewable energy without the upfront capital burden, while also aligning with sustainability goals and long-term cost stability; and

WHEREAS, this agreement will permit the purchase the generated electricity at a fixed or reduced rate over the term; and

WHEREAS, the agreement will promote sustainability; and

WHEREAS, by outsourcing construction, permitting, and operations to the provider, Board and City will avoid the complexity and liability of managing a large-scale energy project themselves  while obtaining the foregoing benefits.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bridgeport that the Power Purchase and License Agreement with CEFIA Solar Services, Inc. for the Solar Project at Curiale School, in substantially the form presented to this Council, be and hereby is approved, ratified, and confirmed; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor or his designee is hereby authorized to enter into said Agreement in substantially the form attached hereto and, upon consultation with the City Attorney’s Office, is further authorized to take all other actions and do all other things necessary, including executing such other contracts, amendments, and documents as may be necessary in furtherance of the purpose of, and consistent with, this resolution and in the best interests of the City of Bridgeport and its citizens.
